Cancer Research - Relay for Life

As some of you will know in January 2007 Denise was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and underwent a grueling course of treatment in Oxford and London. Here’s what Denise had to say:

"If it wasn't for charities like Cancer Research UK I would not have had access to all the drugs, medical advances and hospital procedures and staff that have at the moment made me cancer free today. During 2007 Duncan carried on with our new business whilst supporting me and our two teenage children.

Now that I am on the way to a full recovery Duncan and I have decided to re-launch our business DNA Appointments and to coincide with this we have been very active in recruiting a team of 30 people to help raise money for Cancer Research UK. We took part in Cancer Research Uk’s ‘Relay for Life’ on the 28/29th June 2008 at the West Witney Sports Ground, the event had a carnival atmosphere and consisted of our team relay walking for a full 24 hours whilst still raising money for this amazing charity. We had a target of £5,000 but we are delighted to announce that we actually came in with £8,000. The whole day seemed to fly past so quickly and all of the team worked so incredibly hard before and after the event and this was rewarded by our target being smashed by £2,000. It was great to see so many ages of people taking part and getting totally involved in the cause. I have been asked to be part of the committee next year so although I am cancer free Duncan and I will always be active in doing whatever we can for Cancer Research UK."

This year, Cancer Research UK hope that the Relay For Life will raise over £4 million to help continue their life-saving research into the prevention and treatment of cancer.

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. They support research into all aspects of cancer through the work of more than 4,250 scientists, doctors and nurses. Over the past 10 years alone, thousands of lives have been saved through earlier detection and improved treatments. But, much work remains to be done if we are to achieve our aim of beating cancer.

We would like to thank all of our friends, family and clients that have supported and sponsored us for the 2008 Relay event. For more information please call us on 01993-882222.

As a company DNA Appointments will also continue to support Cancer Research UK after the event with £100 being donated with every successful placement we make.

So if you are a client or candidate looking to find candidates or work then you also will be helping us in saving lives of many people in the UK.
